Always showed them love. I'm the mushy sort, but I love the Facebook forward that sounds totally made up, but her people have confirmed that this kind of thing happens all the time, that a vet comes to a book signing or something, and she very enthusiastically thanks him for all he's done, introduces him as one of her heroic "Viet Nam Gentlemen" to everyone around them, plants a big kiss on him (usually in front of kids and grandkids 😄), and then takes pictures with him and his group.
