We fell to 5th last season in a similarly loaded WCC. And we did it with an even more height-challenged rotation, with only two somewhat dependable scoring threats — with an offense that did everything in its power to avoid what every small roster hopes to be able to do: RUN!
This year we WILL run — we're gonna run the WCC ragged, in fact. I think it's Pope's preferred way of playing — even though he's never really had the personnel to pull it off. He did try it some with his 2nd year squad, but not anything like we're about to see over the next couple months.
It's gonna be fun.
The Dayton team we just beat was the heavy favorite preseason selection to win the Atlantic 10. Most years, that means they likely finish 2nd to the Zags were they in the WCC. They're usually a two or three bid conference.
