Imagine that 5-star QB used to the sunshine playing a November game 2-3 time zones away in a blizzard or even on a really cold day against a team built for ground and pound all day long. Or playing an also-ran in a rain storm in October. They will lose a road game every year in the Big Ten b/c of travel and weather. Winning road games in P5's is hard as it is without throwing the elements into it.
As a proxy for this, look at performance against Notre Dame: they haven't won in South Bend in their last 5 tries.
