The Tesla connector is smaller but can handle the same voltage CCS can (CCS is so large because its an enhancement on the older 'Type 2' connector)

From Tesla's stand point.. They should be the standard. They have more EV's on the road, they are outselling every other EV (They are on track to sell more Model Y's this year than Ford will sell F150's). They also have more charging stations.
