I am and old boomer with no kids in the home. We still have a landline (Ooma
IP phone) because we took it on our mission so our kids could call a local number. We just kept it afterwards (<$5 a month taxes) because some people still have and call our landline number and it does filter out a lot of calls we do not want to take from people who do not have our cell phone numbers.
Unfortunately, we have a daughter that calls multiple times a day and if she does not get an answer on the cell phone, she calls the "landline" as a backup and to annoy us. 🙂
