They aren't being locked up for speeding.
They are being locked up for speeding so fast they are recklessly endangering others on the road.

I could maybe talked into the consequences being different if someone is going 105 along the Wasatch Front where there is heavy traffic versus somewhere between Wendover and Tooele, for example, at a time when there is no traffic.

But generally speaking - I've not no problem with the consequences of going 105 are similar to the consequences of driving distracted or even DUI.
