a world class development center of space instruments and other high tech science and engineering (and classified) programs for all of the Gov agencies. For what was once a small University laboratory, they now generate very significant revenues and are recognized by the Gov as a 'go to' research lab for all things space. They also employ about 500 students as part of the enterprise. We're rather stupid if we are making fun of USU's research accomplishments. They are an R1 research University for a reason.
