His scheme is generally pretty weak. How long have we heard about 3 down and dropping 8? How often have we heard about soft spots in the secondary that teams easily exploit? How often have we heard about his lack of blitzing?
Look, I understand BYU’s limitations when it comes to coaches and that Tuiaki is about as good as we can find. I’m not ripping him forever and saying that he is the worst person on earth, but we as fans should be able to critique him when the effort is weak. He himself and Sitake have both shared that the effort on Saturday wasn’t great.
Tuiaki deserves credit when he does well. In fact, I gave him tons of credit for calling an awesome game against Utah. Unfortunately the games where he has done very well are the exception. AZ and ASU weren’t well called games, but Utah was stellar.
No, this isn’t a 2nd half USF critique, it’s a criticism of Tuiaki’s defense as a whole. We’ve seen this show played out several times since he arrived.
