Just pointing out that believing that anytime someone uses a term in politics
It becomes verboten is a rough way to live. I tell my hypersensitive wife this all the time. Here it happens to fit your comment.

Allowing the extremists on one side or another to poison words, phrases, and symbols creates an ever narrowing life. Like the okay symbol or the term equality or the American flag.

I was soooo bugged by the left refusing to utilize the American flag when Bush was president because they felt it meant support for Bush. So small-minded.

You’re doing the same with the term unity. Because a political opponent used the term it’s now taboo because it means what the extremists on that side believe. Not what most reasonable people would expect it to mean, but the worst possible view.

Hopefully we can all step back from the edge and agree on some basic things. Like together we are better than apart. That to look out for the vulnerable among us is generally a good thing. That personal responsibility, empowerment, and accountability leads to better long term outcomes than victim mentality.

Protesting others because of their use of terms like unity and equality is like protesting the flag of the country that has provided the freedoms that allow your success.
