I never went to BYU, and I’m no longer affiliated with the LDS church, though.

I was annoyed when BYU changed to Navy, and I’m annoyed that they insist on continuing to use it. Just like I was annoyed when Coke changed its original formula. Navy isn’t BYU football to me, just as “new Coke” wasn’t Coke. I stopped drinking Coke when they changed it, too.

I find BYU football to be much less appealing than it was in the 70’s, 80’s, and most of the 90’s (and not just because we win fewer games than we did during those decades). It just doesn’t have the same flavor, the same magic it once did. I attribute much of this to the fact that BYU ditched royal blue for Aggie blue. It’s no coincidence that we started playing like Utah State the moment our teams started looking like Utah State.
