You look at the body of work and ZW 2019 issues were much more about decision
making and very little about arm strength.

Sure you should caveat it. But, caveats go both ways. SOS, for example.

A fair evaluation of his body of work will be done now that he has declared and you are already seeing that #2 pick rhetoric slipping. He is already dropping down a bit.

Why? Because now that he has declared and the draft is approaching, teams are digging deeper in their evaluations.

This is why I pushed for 1 more game. Another game vs a decent defense would help build the case as long as ZW played well.

An honest and objective evaluation of ZW body of work would go like this.

Freshman. Won starting job mid-season. Showed flashes of brilliance, but struggled vs better defenses. Bowl game vs cupcake made him look all-world. Flashes of McMahon but inconsistent.

Sophomore. Wilson had shoulder surgery off season which hindered his prep and had him less than 100% physically for the season. Showed flashes at end of Tennessee and vs USC, but played poorly vs Utah and UW early. Bad decision making at times. Inconsistent. On pick 6 vs Toledo, ZW made ill-advised tackle at goal line with time running out. Injured his hand. Missed several games. Came back vs Idaho State. Won but play was disappointing. Blew out UMASS. As usual, looked great vs cupcake defense. Looked terrible in losses to SDSU and Hawaii to end the season.

QB controversy as that season ended. Open competition in off season. ZW clearly won that competition and put in an incredible effort aided by personal trainer John Beck to do it.

Junior. ZW looked totally improved from week 1. But, Navy had not practiced. Smoked a few weak defenses. But struggled vs UTSA and much of Houston game. Smoked more bad defenses. Was a bit off vs CCU in a loss vs a good defense. Was good but not dominant vs good SDSU defense. Obliterated a weak UCF defense.

Decision making has improved. Accuracy has improved. Can make the throws. Phenomenal vs weak teams. Decent vs the good defenses. Did not get much chance to show vs good defenses and no great defenses.

Trend is very good.

When they dig deep, that is what they will see.
