I thought the point was that Galon Urso built in a self destruct mechanism.
As I see it the point of Star Wars - Episode 4, or whatever name it is going by these days, was that this highly orderly technological super power was overly confident. They thought they could impose order through technology and disciplined hierarchy on any where in the galaxy. This is what Darth Vader apart. He was a part of this machine - but then he wasn't. The message was that for all of this achievement the system was necessarily vulnerable.

Now none of that is really the point. The point now, is don't force a man to do a job after you kill his wife and force him to send his daughter to live with his terrorist friend, because he will probably do a bad job and find a way to get back at you.

It turns an epic and constant struggle into just a management lesson.
