If you want pure exposure, playing a bunch of P5's to start the year, lose 50%+ of those games, have 50%+ of your fan base honestly disengaged by the end of September, but have 90% of your games on national TV and be completely irrelevant from a national discussion standpoint by the middle of October, then continue with independence.
If, on the other hand, you want to play a schedule that transverses the nation, has you in "in the mix" based on good performance, keeps your fan base engaged when you are in the mix, and gives you the chance at a conference championship and a possible NY6 birth, then moving to the AAC might make sense.
It all depends on what your priorities are.
