It's pretty obvious Larry and the 12 university president dwarves do not.
Perhaps something something could be negotiated. Think of the money they would save compared to what they've bled thus far. Other than making Larry Scott a multi-millionaire, the P-12 Network has almost nothing to show for it.
Our network — supporting only 1 school and, indirectly, its sponsoring, western-based church — has 4 times the national distribution size of their network and has maintained it for most of the past decade, even though both networks were created at approximately the same time and appeal to roughly the same footprint. In many portions of the west, you could argue that the sponsoring entities have a similar-sized profile in terms of demographic awareness.
A network for a conference like this has some real issues. The fact is that only half of the P12 has any real national appeal for the big sports. Outside of Arizona basketball, the rest of their programs are essentially de facto mid-major schools in terms of population, name recognition, academics, athletics, following, and national appeal anyway (WSU, OSU, ASU, UoA, Yewtah, Colorado). 3 of their school were actually mid-majors in the modern collegiate sports era that happened to get the lucky call-up just so the conference could already fill in portions of the footprint where it already didn't have any competition. In one case, they picked over the school that would have given the conference the most exposure for that state and the region as a whole and was better in almost all ways across the Board in every category except for the PC card.
Even in this day and age, money — in some circumstances — trumps the PC card.
GO COUGS.
