Seemed like a nice enough company, certainly very polite. They needed a technical writer to document certain APIs and network issues having to do with video chat. It seemed all hush-hush, so I figured it was some security company. They were offering very good pay, and the technology seemed right up my alley.
My last interview was over the phone (this was in the days before Zoom-type video conferencing was common). Friendly lady, standard questions, I fit the bill to a T. I was getting pretty excited about this. Then she dropped the bomb. "Okay, you should know that we offer online services for conversation, stripping, and sex chat between our young women employees and adult men."
The conversation ended within about 30 seconds after that. She was very nice about it. Happened a lot, she said. To be honest, in retrospect I was shocked that they were having so much trouble finding a good technical writer for a sex chat/stripper business in the Seattle area.
