As you noted, it will be a real challenge for coaches to keep players happy and focused on team goals if they're not happy with the role they have, the touches they're getting or the amount of playing time they're getting.

It's a credit to how great of a person Coach Pope is, guys are willing to give up significant roles on other teams in order to be part of his team at BYU.
