Until there is an Official Announcement from the U and/or an Official Announcement from the Y, everything that is being said on CB right now about Caleb Lohner is just speculation, heresay or rumor and continues to heat-up what is already most likely a very difficult and volatile situation between this young man, his family and two highly competitive schools and rivals.
So until an announcement is made concerning his future, here is my starting 5 amoung the players we know are currently part of the BYU Basketball program;
My current starting five for the players that we know will be here is; Harward at the 5, Haarms at the 4, Harding at the 3, Johnson at the 2 and Barcello at the 1.
And here is how I rank the rest of the current Roster;
1. Matt Haarms - Senior Year, making the most of this new opportunity.
2. Alex Barcello - He is going have the ball in his hands a lot this season - much will be expected.
3. Conner Harding - This will be his breakout year.
4. Richard Harward - He will be a load down low. Between he and Haarms Pope will have a hayday with the pick-n-roll.
5. Spencer Johnson - He will be the biggest surprise in 2020 - 2021.
6. Gavin Baxter - This will be his breakout year as well.
7. Jesse Wade - Finally he will be able to play without pain at BYU.
8. Gideon George - He will be a "shut-down" defensive stopper for us at the 3 or 4 position.
9. Kolby Lee - Hopefully he will be able to continue to grow from a fine Sophomore season.
10. Wyatt Lowell - he will bring us instant offense off the bench, his defense will hold him back from more playing time.
11. Treven Knell - He will be a solid 3 point threat in 2020 - 2021
12. Hunter Erickson - Unless needed due to injury, I think he will redshirt in 2020 - 2021.
This is a very deep team, one I think will defend better than most BYU teams and one I think will surprise with a strong, re-tooled offense. The addition of Lohner and Averette (should it happen) would elevate us into the conversation for a Conference Championship and/or the WCC Tournament Title.
