I like that a lot. Has 2 years to play, so he will probably have to sit a year and then see what he can do as an upper classman. I would put him on a similar level as McCLung in regards to overall potential production. McClung is an above the rim guy, a walking highlight dunk machine, but is pretty inefficient on offense. McClung is a career 30% 3P shooter and 39% FG shooter, including his dunks. Despite his athleticism, has been criticized for his defense and inability to guard bigger guards.
Sad we didn't get McClung, but I think Davien might be a better fit with his excellent shooting ability and better length, with a 6' 6" wingspan. Not sure how Davien translates as a passer, at 2.5 APG with minutes in the mid 20s, he has the potential to grow there.
I think we should be able to plug Damien into Pope's system and he could be a nice player for a couple years for us, as long as he doesn't pick Wake Forest, which seems to be the leader right now.
