If you’re giving 1 month of notice, you should be prepared to support your family for that 1 month because they could terminate you the moment you give notice. I’ve seen it several times, and it was always a surprise. Even if you give 2 weeks notice, you need 2 weeks of savings.
If you aren’t prepared for that, you have to weigh the risk vs benefit of giving notice. What’s worse - possibly damaging your relationship with a former employer or not being able to support your family?
