I misread the question.
Answered as my job. I have a degree in education. That’s the one I was talking about. Before that I chose a subject I loved but couldn’t have a family with - archaeology. 😉

Absolutely. I marched into the counselors office and asked for a list of the top paying majors. I chose from the top 5.

What were the top 5?

As I recall, 4 or all 5 were engineering. I chose mechanical engineering. This was over 15 years ago.

Mix of both. I fell into my major - had no real idea what I was going to do freshman year and thought I’d have it all

I chose my major out of interest, not money. The degree got me my commission...

I chose by interest and what I could graduate with most quickly.

Chose by interest out of those that would support a family at a basic level

Neither. I knew I was going to grad school and I chose a major that was nothing more than a stepping stone

I chose it because the subject interested me and I was good at it. I don't work

Interest, by far. Added to it to enhance career options.

I suppose interest (Marriott School), but I knew potential was there. It’s nice
