If you can afford it, give rent through January with heavy strings attached.
Things like agreeing to do financial peace university with D. Ramsey (that you pay for), telling them you will not pay for February, they have to show you their written budget for January both before and after.
If they won't do that, it isn't worth even helping. You are just enabling them.
