- Don't forget the Mud Hens!!
- Fond memories of the Toledo Rib-Off competition down by the Maumee River. Great ribs and other food to go along with it!
- Big difference from fishing the clear streams and rivers of the west to Lake Erie and the Walleye Maumee River Run (muddy Maumee). I did develop a taste for smoked Walleye if done right.
- You mentioned the undefeated seasons in the early 70's. In addition to Chuck Ealey, Mel Long was an outstanding DT as well. The coach during those years, Jack Murphy, actually worked for me as Public Relations guy and I consider him a dear friend. He hooked us up with some great games at the Big House and South Bend. Boy, did he have some stories about Toledo players. Said his most talented players didn't go as far in their careers as the above average guys who were smart and played their hearts out.
- Battle of Fallen Timbers was fought nearby. Confederation of Indian Tribes defeated by US Army, battle for control of the area.
- I loved eating at Mancy's restaurant, there was one when I lived there, I believe there are two now. Visited when BYU played UM in 2015 up the road in Ann Arbor.
- Nick Saban was the coach of the Rockets for one year, 1990. I met him at a luncheon...young aspiring guy that clearly had a fire in his belly.
- My wife was a Sylvania SouthView Cougar.
- Two kids born at Toledo Hospital.
- When we lived there, my buddy who was an Evangelical Lutheran encouraged us to put together a Church Basketball team to play in the Interfaith basketball City League. We put together a stake all-star team to represent the LDS church in the league (we had one former USU Aggie and BYU player on the team). We didn't have church basketball then as the Toledo Stake was all spread out. Our future Stake President was the Coach. We actually tied for 1st with the premier team in the league the one year we played....If I recall it was Indiana Missionary Baptist Church, all black gents and a great team. Really fun times.
- Only in Toledo a little over 4 years, but very fond memories and met some wonderful folks there.
