She's seen the first 3 movies and listened to the audio book for those as well countless times, but my 6 year old niece can't move onto to #4 until she can read it on her own.  The subject matter is increasingly more mature especially when 4 comes along, so it's a standard to use. It also provides incentive for my niece to improve her reading, which is always good.
