But these things ebb and flow. Right now, it’s the Dawning of the age of Aquarius for Utah football. KW is their LaVell. Once he’s gone, the program won’t trend up. And it probably won’t hold steady. It will likely come down. It’s just their turn now, and it’s been a pretty incredible run for them.

Remember when UU was a Basketball school? Remember what happened when Majeris left? A few good seasons, with a whole lot of mediocrity, with some terrible mixed in. Utah Football is Indiana Football with an incredible, legacy lifer coach. That’s incredibly rare, and Utah won’t find it again soon if they are anything like the rest of college football. Ask USC.

Utah fans that think this is the new normal aren’t taking reality and history into account. They will regress to the mean of that conference once KW is gone. And frankly, they’re not as good as they all think. They win the South 1/8 of the time with their best coach ever. (I don’t mention Urban in this context because he can’t stay anywhere because his radioactivity catches up with him and he has to flee the scene everywhere he goes)
