RE: All those facts and logic just go over the head of INDY lovers. They only

We play five P5 teams. That makes BYU P5, right.

It doesn't make us P5.  It also makes it so we aren't G5, which is fine with me.  Our upcoming schedules are significantly better than what we had in the MWC.  I'll take MULTIPLE home games per season against schools like Arizona State, Michigan State, Baylor, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, USC, Washington, Virginia, Stanford, Minnesotta and more.  We used to get only ONE home game like that a year.  Not to mention the away and nuetral site games against those kinds of schools that I can still watch on TV and are still better than watching us play against a lower tier MWC foe.

NY6 bowls are meaningless and overrated.

They aren't meaningless or overrated, but if you think joining a conference is going to land us in NY6 bowls all the time then you're lying to yourself, or you have an inflated memory of what the MWC was like for us.  We had the opportunity to go to a BCS game every year from 2004 to when we left.  The # of times that happened: ZERO.  Instead teams like Utah, TCU, Boise State, and Hawaii all went.  It's not like we would join the AAC and suddenly be the class of the conference and win out every year.  I would rather watch us play better and more interesting competition every year.

Just win

Uh, yeah.  If we win things go better and if we lose they get worse...kind of like...well...every other team in the country.

The WCC is better than the AAC.

This depends on the sport and has nothing to do with football.  In many sports, the WCC is better, in some it is close, and in others the AAC is better.  I do know that Gonzaga is a better basketball school than any in the AAC, and St. Mary's is on par with many in the AAC.

If we go 12-0

If we go 12-0 against some of our future schedules then we will almost certainly make a NY6 bowl AND be in the discussion for a playoff bearth.  No team in the AAC can boast as good a schedule as BYU's future schedules.

Are there advantages to being in a conference?  Sure, but don't lie and say there aren't advantages to being indy and having a deal with ESPN either.  In the MWC I got to see one, maybe 2 BYU games a year, plus the bowl game.  Now I get to watch pretty much every game BYU plays no matter where I live, and the competition is a lot better. I like where we are at now a lot better.
