I think if I’d go south I’d go NC. My uncle there is on 20
Acres, only has to mow an acre or so, and it would be awesome to basically have your own woods.

Driving through some nice neighborhoods in Orem. Huge beautiful homes, tiny lots

I love having a yard big enough for my kids to play in. Worth the extra work.j

Big home and big yards are overrated

Give me 2000 - 2500 square feet on 1/3 - 1/2 acre any day over a big house.

A large yard seems like more work than a large house to me.

Nah I think they are properly rated

And that is why people have to work until 60plus. Mainly because of their home.

I have a 1/3 acre and I hate it. Yards in the south have crappy grass, ants

I'd want it more for the space and privacy.

Where do you live. Must have sandy soil.
LCcoug

SC lowcountry. The soil is bad, and the grass sucks unless you have pros

I like mine...

I said large homes.
Baron

I’m 52 and can retire at any time I want...
CoachSpeak

It applies just as well. It is a math problem. It cost you time.
Baron
5/24/19 6:17pm
Not if that wasn’t what I wanted and was looking to do...
CoachSpeak
5/24/19 6:25pm
That math problem depends on income.
bluecougar1985
5/24/19 6:40pm
Obviously. It is a function of income, time, and your personal utility curve
Baron
5/24/19 7:01pm
My point was it may not have cost him any time.
bluecougar1985

Time is always a factor.
Baron
5/24/19 8:31pm
Not always
bluecougar1985
5/24/19 8:39pm
And that income takes time.

Not extra time in regards to retirement, which was your argument.
bluecougar1985
5/25/19 10:51am
Extra work was my point.
Baron
5/25/19 10:56am
How would that create extra work before retirement in the example I provided?
bluecougar1985
5/25/19 12:27pm
You have to work to meet expensee. Every expense you have makes you work that much longer
Baron
5/25/19 12:32pm
You can’t be serious, right?
bluecougar1985

Not necessarily...

I treat everything as an expense lesuire etc. You have to decide what you want and how long it

Yeah, his humble abode (which he had to list the sq ft on) isn't large.

Didn’t “have to”, wanted to...

Humble brags come in many forms. Same thing. 🙂

Sure, take it however you want to take it...
CoachSpeak

Took it exactly how we all know you intended it

I think it’s weird when couples in their 60s build big homes and claim it’s for their grandchildren...
Brisco

I find that odd as well...

Isn't that what the 6500 sf "cabin" is for?

Big yards are the best "character builder" you can have for kids.

No way. Where else are you supposed to get your self-esteem from?

Just know that if you buy an older home with more land you can factor in new

If you are walking distance from a school or park it alleviates the need
