Avignon and Arles are both fantastic cities to visit. The Abbey du Fontfroide is beautiful and some of the Cathar castles in the Pyrenees are stunning.

I wasn't impressed by Cannes, mostly blah. St. Tropez was nice. Marseilles has some cool stuff worth checking out as well.
