There's still plenty of room to get away from everyone if you want to.
Of course, the national parks are pretty crowded (mostly due to people who are from elsewhere, fwiw). But there are tons of great places to go to enjoy the outdoors besides that.
Your question is a valid one. Crowds can definitely ruin the experience. We're not there yet (except sometimes at Zion and Arches).
