Don’t tell me the deck is stacked against Sitake when the previous coach consistently won 8–9 games a season against similar, if not more difficult schedules.
Again — I am all for reasonable and rational change in the basketball program. Calling for Dave Rose to be fired when there’s another coach in the athletic department doing less with more isn’t that change. Making the kinds of tough changes Sitake did after going 4-9 is probably closer to the right solution, even though Rose hasn’t taken the program nearly to that altitude — or lack thereof.
Both programs are not anything I’d hold up as a model of success at this point — I don’t think we should be looking within for examples of how to fix either one.
