Suicide in general is such an extremely low % of the population that there really
isn't that big of a difference in numbers per 100,000 people.

From the states with the highest rates to the lowest rates we're talking about a difference of approx 20/100,000 as opposed to
8/100,000.

True, if one of those people is a brother or a son, it's horrific. But the difference in the numbers, 8 out of 100K vs. 20 out of 100K isn't extremely attention grabbing.
