Grimes will pick his own guy. As he should. Grimes is probably a top 5 OL coach
in the country himself and he has specific things he wants from an OL coach.

Does the OL job have an LDS requirement like the head coach?

We know Sitake and Grimes "won't limit themselves like that"

I want whomever Grimes wants as OL coach.

We assume that many people don't want the BYU job, so at least if they are LDS

Pugh and Grimes have both been OL coaches at BYU and neither is LDS.

Given Grimes is not a member, I doubt the OLine has to be if OC doesn't

Unless the BoT wants to hit him above & below - LDS chop block.

Given that neither Grimes nor Pugh are LDS there is clearly no requirement.

I hope for Grimes' sake that it doesn't.

Past OL coaches like Grimes, Weber, and Roger French weren’t

I thought Roger "pardon my" French was LDS. No?

His funeral services were at a Lutheran church, so it doesn't appear so.

Doesn't exactly mean he wasn't a member

He was in MN when he died. It's not a guarantee, just evidence.

No, only Head Coach. Although Pres. Nelson has been known to shake things up

I wouldn't mind seeing them bring Empey back.

He was a good game coach, but doesn't have the desire to be a college coach.

I have to agree. If BYU wants to be a top program, you have to bring in coaches

Good P5 programs can afford to get position coaches who are great recruiters...

That analogy goes both ways. Kids play for coaches regardless of job title

I don’t think so. There was some scuttlebutt about his coaching.
