It is not the "thought" of it, it is the overall attitude towards it. We are
taught that those types of intimate relations are sacred. The world is departing rapidly from that belief, no argument.

So you believe that sex between unmarried, consenting adults is acceptable? In doing so you've excluded sexual purity from the definition of morality. Of course nothing stops anyone from being a wonderful and capable person in any other facet of life. To suggest I or anyone else believes that is just a straw man.

But you've essentially defined morality to not include premarital sex in order to say that the latest generation is more moral. That is called moving the goal posts.

In addition, more people cohabitating and eventually marrying or breaking up when these relationships used to result in marriages also skews your divorce statistics in favor of recency.

The original context of this topic pertains to non-LDS (and even LDS in many cases) athletes agreeing to live a "moral and chaste life" as it is understood by BYU. Using this as the barometer, there is no argument that in overall society there is a decline and that the successful recruitment of athletes would suffer as a result.
