Cutting tax rates isn’t the problem, even if we left the rates alone, in 15
to 20 years we won’t be able to afford major entitlement programs as structured today if their growth continues as it has the past few years. We have to restructure those programs or we won’t be able to pay for them.

I agree that the health care industry isn’t designed to be transparent. It isn’t designed well at all. It is over regulated and the middle man gets far too much. I have personally made career choices that have given me and my family better health insurance over a larger salary because we valued the peace of mind that the health insurance through the large employer offered. It turns out that it paid off financially after obamacare got passed since our rates barely went up compared to the National average and compared to some of the examples I have read on this board. So I guess I agree that my original solution is lacking in that it doesn’t address the need for healthcare reform. But in order to make it more cost effective and efficient, we should get it out of the hands of the government. They have already proven that they can’t provide healthcare for veterans very well.
