If the program can’t be even close to relevant then there is a valid argument as to the sustainability
of independence. With the exception of 1 season, maybe 2... byu football has been a complete after thought by end of September since going independent. With the remaining string of games becoming meaningless.

Whether fans like it or not the reality with independence is you have to win. You lose a couple of games early in the season the fans and players will check out really quickly. If and when this happens questioning the sustainability of BYUs version of independence is completely reasonable.
