No, there are various designs using the basic stars and stripes
but in different shapes and colors. For example, the Thin Blue Line flag for the police which is in black and white with a thin blue line running across it.

So the flag could be the BYU in blue and white. Just leave the red out. Don't think anyone would take exception to that.
