BYU Broadcasting is the umbrella entity under which BYUtv, KBYU TV, KBYU Radio, and others, operate.
This financial report is for the year ending December 31, 2016. The information, to which I refer, is listed on page 4.
The report shows that revenue from Sales and Services, for all entities of BYU Broadcasting, was only $1.6M. That includes any advertisement $$ and the sale of BYU-produced programs.
BYUtv may or may not account for the bulk of that revenue but we simply don't know because every is lumped into BYU Broadcasting. Either way, the total revenue is less than $2M.
Direct institutional support has grown from $18M, in 2011, to more than $35M, in 2016.
Again, we don't know how much of that went to buoy up production costs of BYUtv.
It's important to note that sports, accounts for only 20% of the total BYUtv offerings, on an annual basis.
Looking at those numbers, it's apparent that BYUtv cannot send much, in the way of funding, to BYU athletics.
