Disagree. It has always been a thing and every school brags about their conf.
championships. You can't win a NC very often, if ever... 12 teams have won 90% of the NC's since the FBS was established.
Conference champs is a good goal to shoot for. It was always Lavell's goal and it is bragging rights over all the teams you play year in and year out. That is what created the hatred people have for BYU.
I loved having that to hang over the heads of our conf. mates.
