BYU is to prepare future church leaders who will also be leaders in the world.
Harder to be a leader in the world from a back office job like accounting. My hope is that we get more BYU grads in C-suite jobs. That's my hope for the school (and our grads). I'd love to see the day when BYU no longer has a need to have an accounting program (they'll always teach accounting classes, but having a program is different from just teaching some classes).
There is a reason Ivy league schools (and Ivy Plus schools) don't have accounting departments.... it's because their grads have better options out of their undergrad programs.
Further - One reason BYU places so many grads in so many great grad programs is that the BYU grads need a lofty grad school degree ..... and often the Ivy league grads don't need to bother with grad school because they already have the job and resume they want/need.
