It's a windy, desolate place, but as a kid it was heaven. You could do anything you wanted, nobody cared. We lit fires, destroyed things, went exploring, anything a young boy wanted and it was all good. Such an incredible place for a childhood.
I remember one summer, I would have been ten. My friends and i collected a bunch of packing pallets and made a huge bonfire in our backyard. The flames must have been 15 feet tall. A neighbor called to let us know there was a fire in the backyard. My parents told them what I was doing, they thought it sounded fun.
I'll also never forget the day our bus driver's brother got mauled by a grizzly bear.
