Most of the reports are attempts to defend the staff for not giving Tanner a shot when Taysom has struggled.
The only reliable reports came from Kalani 1 week before the season started that neither QB had separated himself. That tells me that choosing Taysom was not a performance or talent based decision. Taysom was and is the undisputed leader of the team. Coaches and players love him and are loyal to him. That was the determining factor.
I don't know that Tanner would have produced better results than Taysom, nobody can know that. But we saw flashes of greatness from Tanner last year in big game situations. If a QB like him can't thrive in Ty's system, than the system needs some serious changes. I'm not worried.
