in statistics alone is misleading.
Using a "what have you done for me lately" in football where the most important this is to just win, Utah and TCU should have been the ones to receive P5 bids. And truthfully, Boise St deserves it more than BYU or any other non-P5 team at this point. I realize that there is much more to the discussion than simply the on-field results...and university presidents will take that into account.
Sometimes in the effort to statistize everything, a little common sense is helpful. People thought TCU was a bad choice because of it's smal alumni base, it's low attendance, it's pathetic hoops team, it's poor viewership, etc. Turns out they were a pretty good invite after all as they ran rampant in the 2014 Peach bowl (and proved they were playoff caliber), arguably were a NY6 caliber team last season, and are many people's pick to win the B12 and go to the playoff this year.
