have been accurate. Most of what I have seen/heard from those communities are that the "negotiations are in the works", or "they are working out the details of the contract".
I don't believe any of that. I honestly believe exactly what the national media is reporting. I think they are the credible ones in this. The B12 just "announced" (let leak) that they are taking presentations from 17 schools, why?
1) It gives off an appearance that the B12 is a wanted commodity. They also let "leak" that there were something like 60+ schools who have contacted them about expansion "and some current P5 schools". They want the public to see/think that they are more important and needed than they actually are.
2) I think they realized that after the last round of realignment, the B12 needs to move a bit slower. They may regret, to a degree, that they lost 4 quality schools, but didn't get the same quality in return. Be slow, methodical, and give off an impression that you are doing your due diligence. Clearly the B12 has a narrowed down list of "feasible" additions, and my guess it is in the same 4-6 we have all be talking about. But they look at 17 to control the narrative and play nice.
I think that is where we are at right now. And if so, then don't expect any kind of announcement until the October time when all schools Presidents meet again. It is frustrating, but none of the "insiders" in CB, twitter, etc. have been accurate.
