Independence was an idea that has been on the minds of BYU fans for many years. I wish we had done it much, much earlier. At the time, I wasn't aware of how much it would help. But you sure can see the difference now.

I remember my dad saying "the WAC gets stronger every year." Well, they aren't stronger now, and we are weaker for having stayed in it. If we went Independent in the late 80s, we probably would have made the initial cut in the Big 12.
