well-conceived optimism, esp about Bryant. As I said last year, I don't see anybody from Utah County that is taking us to "the next level", unless his last name is Jackson. I'm sure that Emery and Haws will be able to play some European ball if they are so inclined and I think Mika, because of his size and athleticism might play some NBA. But he isn't the 2nd coming of Kevin Love because he doesn't have high basketball IQ (i.e. he makes dumb mistakes and let's his emotions get out of check). They are very fine MWC/WCC type players, but it is frankly rediculous to compare next years roster against one of the elite college basketball factories.
I think this roster can deliver a sweet-16 type of season, and that would be a landmark kind of season for BYU, but shoot for the moon? No, I'm not buying into that. Dave's style of b-ball, while extremely entertaining, is not the type of coaching that gets teams to the next level (where defense really does win championships). I am hopeful for Childs, but honestly, I am not as high on Dastrup as many on here are. But, here's hoping you are right. And if somehow this combo of players get us to the elite 8 in the next few years, I would be ecstatic.
