In the books Luke got married (I know they are no longer canon) but Luke IS the Jedi now so he makes his own rules.

I'm also convinced that snokes is dsrth plagius (however it is spelled) especially if you Google images of Darth plagius and his race (muun) snokes looks exactly like a performed/damaged version of him
