I interview people a lot, and from my experience, handwritten notes are antiquated. Nobody does it anymore, and frankly, a lot of hiring decisions are made much quicker than the time it takes for a note to arrive in the mail and make it to the desk of the interviewer. A brief, thoughtful, well-written email is more than sufficient.
