...which vessel, despite having cool handpunched holes for the car stereo speakers they installed, remains clearly un-seaworthy and oddly...well, odd.

On one hand I admire the work that went into it. Check out the photo gallery on Utefans and you'll see what I mean. A word of warning, though: Make sure you allow enough time to sort through approximately 200 photos. These guys reeeeeeeaaaally love their dinghy.

On the other hand, it's still just flat out funny. And not in a "laugh with you" kind of way, but more of a "which one of you gets to be Cap'n Crunch" kind of way. For some reason, I can't stifle the laughter when I think of a bunch of guys hoisting the mainsail...err, bed sheets on PVC, or whatever it is. Or the 'BCS Booty' tour guide proudly showing us "and here on the starboard side is where we keep the napkins and plastic forks in this cool little compartment. Arrrgh!"

I guess it's one of those things that's kinda like those horrible un-funny stories that people unsuccessfully try to tell that inevitably end with, "well, you had to be there..."

So Kudos, Ute Ship Builders and Pirate Pretenders. Enjoy your dinghy and don't sail drunk. I'll be laughing--albeit admirably--from afarrrrgh.
