You can measure things based off your own personal metrics
It shouldn't be based on what others do, ever.

For instance, do you do that in your personal life?

"Joe has a nicer car than me. His wife is prettier than mine. He makes more money than me"

Don't measure YOUR success based on Joe's. Base it off of what you are capable of and where you achieve for yourself.

When it comes to a team you follow? Man, you have almost no control over that, so why kill yourself when they don't win a NC every year?

I have certain expectations for the team, but when they don't meet them, I have to adjust. I don't control it... and I wont let BYU football control me by making me miserable when they don't meet MY expectations.

Just some friendly advice. Take it or leave it.
