But, every company in that industry does it. I've been approached by Dish and Direct, both with "introductory rates". They don't hide it. There is nothing dishonest about it. To be striaght, it is probably a lot more shady for us costomers to blackmail them every year with leaving.
As for the "pipe", if you aren't getting advertised speeds, then yeah, I'd be bugged. My gut tells me that the pipe isn't the limiting factor on your speeds.
On the flip side, as a Comcast customer, you have "free" wifi all over the place.
