Happens here in Charleston, too. Better safe than sorry.
We also had unique issues down here - the big bridges around the area would ice up, and as it warmed up, large chunks of ice were falling on the bridge decks, so they had to close the bridges, which resulted in school and business closures. Even when it was warm and the roads seemed fine, there were still hazards.
